Ignacy Gaydamovich, cello
Janusz Grzelazka, piano
East Tennessee State University Associate Professor of Music, cellist Ignacy Gaydamovich, appears in recital with pianist Janusz Grzelazka. The program explores three distinctive 20th-century voices:
Igor Stravinsky – Suite italienne: a witty and neoclassical reimagining of themes from Pulcinella.
Dmitri Shostakovich – Sonata for Cello and Piano: a deeply personal work, marked by lyricism, irony, and intensity.
Bohuslav Martinů – Variations on a Theme of Rossini: a virtuosic tour-de-force blending humor and brilliance.
Together, these works illuminate the cello’s expressive spectrum, from lyric songfulness to dazzling virtuosity.
